I haven’t seen the behaviour you’re describing. Which Grade did you download?

Thanks, this answers my question also. Great forum. I’ve been hoping for years there would be a way to exchange pre-built grades.

I’m having the same issue – I navigate to where the .colorgrade is located, but nothing loads when I doubleclick. I’m in the Setup->Grades room. Any ideas?

Topic: fixing green screens with HSL key

Good to know when you’re not in proximity to a computer with AE.

I’d do it in AE though, the same thing as you did in Color. Boost the saturation, and do a garbage matte and so on as a base for me (or some other compositor) to carry along with keying etc.

The Hue/Saturation is what you would’ve gone with in AE.

Topic: fixing green screens with HSL key

hey all,
The other day i got given footage shot in front of a horrible green screen and it was a small job so couldn’t be bothered messing around in after effects (lazy i know, but we’ve all had to do shit jobs to help a client out! ha) so i used the HSL key, selected the green, lifted the saturation. boosted the greens and in 30 seconds had taken out wrinkles and shadows and just keyed it out in FCP.
Just thought i’d share..hope it helps
D

Hi, yes you are right – whilst i had correctly downloaded them and placed them in the right spot i was attempting to access them through the FX room rather than setup room. Cheers for your help.

CSI Miami doesn’t have a node tree. It’s just some secondaries adjustments. Are you using it in the FX Room or globally like the step-by-step suggests at the top of this thread?

Topic: Importing a grade into Apple Color

I have downloaded and unzipped grades from coloruser.net Some work ok but a lot don’t. For example CSI miami and that military look and golddusk.
I am obviously unzipping and putting them in the right place as some work. the ones that don’t just end up as a picture icon that do nothing. the others that work throw their node tree to the left visually.

can anyone help?

Hi again, I found out why they didn’t work… I unzipped them on a pc and it didn’t like that. Once I unzipped them on the mac it was fine.
Matt.

Topic: Importing a grade into Apple Color

Hi, I downloaded some grades and placed them in a folder. When I try to apply them in color they appear as little folder icons and I cannot apply them. They appear to be files with a .colorgrade suffix. Am I doing something wrong?
Matt.

It’s easier than you think.

  • Hover on the shot you want to grade. (Or select one or multiple shots in the timeline)
  • Go to the Setup room and the Grades tab.
  • Navigate to the location of the preset grade.
  • Select the file and click Load.
