Topic: Workflow / File Naming Conventions

My client digitized his clips using spaces, dashes, slashes, parentheses, you name it.
Color had no problem bringing the project in, but when I tried to roundtrip back to FCP, it refused. I ended up rendering out with no handles and manually rebuilding the cut with the renders.

I used automator to make quick work of the problem, but a manual round trip is no fun.

I did a test later with clips all named alphanumerically and it worked fine. Then tested with clips with crazy names and it does not work.

I’ve warned the show to only use alphanumeric characters in their file names, hopefully that;s the end of that issue.

I had this problem before, but thought my system was crashed or I was going crazy.
