Topic: Showroom / "Mr Glasses" Very nice work, Ola. It was a nicely conceived & shot piece, and you gave it great feeling. But I have one burning question – do ministers in Norway really wear those 16th century neck ruffles? |

Topic: The art of Color / Skin Tones / Green bits Hi Bryan, Have you considered approaching the problem from a slightly different direction? Steve Hullfish has a nice tutorial on using the advanced tab & the RGB parade to balance a shot. See it here: http://provideocoalition.com/index.php/shullfish/video/color_correction_video_tutorial5/ Chuck |

Topic: The art of Color / Bizarre color cast - How to fix? Because of a malfunctioning Z1, I have some footage with a very strange color cast.
Here is a reference frame of the same scene from another camera & angle.
As you can see, the problem image is blue in the whites & the shadow values, yellow in the midtones (especially the skin tones) and the whole thing is over-saturated & contrasty. If this was film, I’d say there was crossover problem due to bad processing chemistry. My question to all of you, who a far more experienced & expert than I, is: How do you even begin to approach a problem like this? Here is my best effort (at least, so far).
The complete clip is about 40 mins. long and varies widely in angle of view, so I have only used color keying in the secondaries & avoided using shapes, which would require a lot of keyframes. If you want to experiment, 2-second clips from each camera are available for download (ProRes 1920×1080i). I would be most grateful for any help & insight on fixing this footage. Chuck |
