Sky pixelation

I love color but when I’m grading I seem to get a lot of pixelation…. am I crushing my blacks to much? Is it because I am shooting HDV? Thanks a bunch, |

You might want to do the sky as a secondary, and blur the mask. HDV, DV, XDCAM, you name it, it can all be “crushed too much”. I have yet to screw up an image shot on RED though. |

pixelation is banding is familiar with HDV for me , to work it out just watch the histogram to see any banding in the picture or non uniform color .. to see where are you going.. it also depends on the footage itself and the bit rate of the footage.. where an 8 bit footage is the common one but a 10 bit footage is alllllllllooooooooooooooooottt better.. regarding the pixelation and the bandaning of the color |
