I read on Scott Simmons’ Editblog that the unit is now shipping.
Fingers crossed for more freelance work. This thing looks sweet.

I got an email from Creative Cow before the weekend that it’s shipping. Crossing my fingers it will reach the norwegian border next week so I get my hands on the Wave and Euphonix at the same time.

I love mine! See my blog and my demo reel done with it. I went for speed and did the whole reel in one afternoon.
Wanted to put it to the test! So far I love it. Solid and metal and well finished.
Now all I need to add is a broadcast monitor and an aja card.

I finally got an email from one of the sellers that the demo uint is on its way to me. Will probably have it monday and give it a real beating with Color during the coming week.

I’ve had one of Norway’s first Euphonix MC Color panels on my desktop only a little hour, and I’m already getting my head around this. Very intuitive, and as I get more into it, I look less on the computer monitor and more on the video monitor. This is GREAT! It’s a “must buy”!

Tell us more Mr. Haldor.

I can’t tell you much more than that I wish it wasn’t a demo unit, so I had to deliver it the day after, so others would get a chance to test it. This will be the best spent money this year whenever I get to buy it. No doubt.

HOLY SH*T!

Avid Purchases EUPHONIX

http://www.avid.com/US/press-room/Avid-Announces-Agreement-to-Acquire-Euphonix

What does that mean for the future of the MC Color and the Eucon protocol ?!

Please, anybody who has bought one, could you email Euphonix (no contact on their website as far as I can see) and ask them what will happen to this product?! I haven’t bought one yet!

Wow, this is actually kind of scary…. Imagine what monopoly they can have now and refuse to make something that works with Final Cut Studio….....

Good find, Marcus!

Avid is not the evil company you think it is. It’s Apple who has a history of buying companies and then scrapping Windows support for the products because they want to sell computers along with the software. This happened for both Shake and Logic.

I am currently writing a review of the Euphonix Panel and I’ll see if I can find out more about the acquisition than what’s being said in the press release.

I used to work on Pinnacle Liquid before Avid bought Pinnacle, now see what they did to Liquid… I’m glad I went over to Mac pretty early and got a taste of DVD Studio Pro before it was released as Final Cut Studio. It has saved me great amounts of money, just riding on the wave of upgrades. It all started with a purchase of DVD Studio Pro for a few thousand NOK, then an upgrade for FCS (the first true UB!) for less than 1700,- NOK!

Even though Apple has done some major faults in the past, I’m happy they do provide kick ass hardware along with nice price applications.

Give us a heads up, will you?

It’s an interesting move by Avid. I doubt this will mean much for Apple users, especially in the short-run. The market Euphonix targets isn’t that big so it’s unlikely that they are going to stop supporting Apple applications. It just makes little sense for them to cut off a very active audio and video community like that.

Besides, a lot of it rests in the hands of developers in the first place (Apple in the case of Logic, Color, etc.) to keep implementing the Eucon protocol in the future. It’s Euphonix’s job to make sure developers stay happy and keep supporting the protocol and continue the integration in their applications. So in that respect Apple has a lot of power in the relationship.

Anyway, let’s not forget that there is the Tangent Wave and maybe we’ll see more controllers for Color in particular in the future. I wouldn’t be surprised if this move to Avid will hurt Euphonix’s sales and push more people to consider the Wave instead.
